Danish Conjunctions
Master the "glue" that holds Danish sentences together. Learn to connect thoughts correctly for your PD2 or PD3 exams.
Why are Conjunctions Tricky?
The Word Order Rule (S-A-V)
In Danish, many conjunctions (like fordi, at, da, når) create subordinate clauses. In these clauses, the word order changes: the Central Adverb (like ikke) must come before the verb.
Jeg kommer ikke (Main)
...fordi jeg IKKE kommer (Subordinate)
Conjunctions vs Adverbs
New learners often confuse fordi (conjunction) with derfor (adverb). Using the wrong one is a major error in the PD3 writing exam.
- • Use Fordi to explain WHY.
- • Use Derfor to explain the RESULT.
